What is Forgotten Man?
Forgotten Man is the debut feature from writer/director Arran Shearing.
What's it about?
Forgotten Man is the story of a young actor in an East London theatre company for the homeless who romances a wealthy out-of-towner in the bustling streets of contemporary London.
Theatre for the homeless?
It's a thing! The film is inspired by actual theatre companies that work with homeless, at risk and first time offenders.
So, it's a drama?
Not exactly. Forgotten Man deals with some heavy issues, but while it is certainly dramatic, it's fundamentally an indie-comedy.
Can I see it?
YES! We are premiering at Cinequest in San Jose on March 2nd, 2017. There will be loads of screenings in the coming year and hopefully in your city soon. Stay tuned for more info!
And, who's making it?
Forgotten Man was a huge collaborative undertaking. When I set out to make the film I worked with the theatre company that the film is based on, actors from this and another similar theatre. Later we had a great team come on board, collaborators from Canada, LA, the UK, the National Theatre and The Globe theatre in London. More on them below!
Sounds great! So, what's happening next?
Now we know where we are premiering at Cinequest it's all about getting the film out! We will be showing it in New York after it's premier in San Jose. After that it heads to Canada. More info to come!
Great! Looking forward to it!

A young actor in an East London Theatre Company for the homeless romances a wealthy out-of-towner in the bustling streets of contemporary London.
Forgotten Man tells the story of Carl, a troubled young writer and actor with a history of incarceration who performs in an East London Theatre Company for the homeless. When a performance of his new play ends with another actor assaulting an audience member, Carl, in the affluent attire from his play, escapes the theatre for the bustling streets of contemporary London. He meets Meredith, a wealthy out-of-towner who is in London for a funeral. Their sweet romance has Carl risking parol violation to pursue another life, but when Meredith invites Carl to see the play in which he is a lead actor, and the theatre erupts in violent conflict, Carl is found trapped between his desire and obligation.
